Computer Training
Some of the locations MMTI workshops have been based are H.D. Woodson High School and Urban Ed in Ward 7, offering Microsoft Certification in Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. Additional training is also available in Web Page Design and Web Casting. MMTI has recently opened its own computer lab at Studio W, 628 W St in NE Washington.
Video Production
MMTI, in partnership with Just Us Productions and Chronicle Vision provides video training in basic and advanced studio, advanced field production, scriptwriting and editing. Our participants gain skills in all phases of production from concept to post-production. MMTI is presently developing a documentary, Lessons From the Waterfront: The Anacostia and our newest project is Baby-Mama-Drama, a half hour show to be broadcast in the spring of 2007 addressing teen age pregnancy and teen violence. MMTI recently opened its own broadcast studio, Studio W in NE Washington and began broadcast this fall on Comcast Ch. 77 in DC, and Ch. 80 in PG County, future broadcast will include Baltimore.
Technical Theatre/ Arts Administration
MMTI students receive technical theatre training at various theatre locations in DC. Our students have worked at the ARC in SE Washington, University of the District of Columbia, Lincoln Theatre, the Takoma Theatre, the Cada Vez and the Carter Baron where they received instruction as well as hands-on opportunities.
Entrepreneurship
Students receive instruction, take field trips and meet individuals who have established businesses. Their real life model, What’s Productions, Inc. is a living laboratory for them to work on as they develop video and web based projects for clients and create sponsorships and advertisements for distribution in those areas. Our present workshops will be in Studio W in NE Washington, using Rich Dad Poor Dad games for math and financial literacy.
Personal Development/Life Management
Students work with a professional counselor to develop a 12 month life management plan that uses his/her strengths to tap into and maximize their greatest potential in attaining their life goals.
What’s Up Productions
What’s Up Productions is a spin-off, for-profit, youth-oriented production company. Student apprentice and intern through What’s Up Production, under the supervision of professional staff. Our advanced students provide services in the areas of video production, web steaming/ casting and technical theatre/arts administration. This is a living laboratory for the students to work along side professionals in the field and create professional products in video, web and audio/visual products and productions.
